Vector Remote Health
Vector Remote
From Spreadsheets to a Scalable Healthcare Platform
Vector Remote helps cardiac clinics manage the increasingly complex world of remote patient monitoring. But as the company grew, its core operations were still being managed through spreadsheets. The challenge was to transform these manual workflows into the company's first web-based product—without sacrificing the reliability, security, and attention to detail demanded by healthcare.
This wasn't simply about digitizing spreadsheets. It was about building the foundation for an entirely new product platform.
Objective
Design the first version of Vector Remote's web application, establishing a secure, intuitive, and scalable foundation for its existing services and future product offerings.
Research & Product Strategy
I led UX research and customer interviews to understand existing workflows, identify pain points, and uncover opportunities to improve the experience.
Working closely with the CEO, CTO, and Product team, we translated those insights into a tiered product strategy—carefully defining what was essential for V1, what could come next, and what we needed to anticipate for the future.
Before committing to development, I designed and tested early prototypes directly with customers. This helped validate critical assumptions, refine workflows, and reduce the risk of bringing an entirely new product experience to market.
Designing for Healthcare
Healthcare brings a unique set of responsibilities. We had to balance simplicity and efficiency with rigorous requirements around patient privacy, data security, and regulatory compliance.
Together with leadership and engineering, I designed the experience around the requirements of the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules, along with safeguards for personally identifiable information (PII).
Building for What Comes Next
Beyond V1, I created a componentized design system that gave engineering a consistent, reusable foundation for rapid iteration.
I also designed a flexible dashboard architecture that could accommodate new products and services without requiring the team to rethink the entire experience each time the business expanded.
Outcome
We transformed a spreadsheet-driven service into its first web-based product, grounded in customer research and built with security, usability, and scalability in mind.
More importantly, we established a foundation that would allow Vector Remote to evolve beyond its initial offering—giving the team the structure and flexibility to keep building.
This project was as much about product strategy and systems thinking as it was about interface design. And that's what made it especially rewarding.
